Yin & Yang Massage

We bring health and vitality to your life through a balance of gentle and assertive massage techniques.

Why Yin & Yang?

Yin and Yang is a term that comes from Chinese medicine stating that “all things in the universe are governed by opposing, yet interdependent forces” to create balance. Yin represents a gentler side while Yang represents a more aggressive or assertive side, both of which are necessary for balancing and accelerating the healing process. The overlapping of the colors between the Yin and Yang signifies that everything in the universe is constantly changing. Likewise, the massage therapists at Yin and Yang massage are trained to adjust their techniques to fit the continually changing needs of your body.

At Ying and Yang, our philosophy is to “be comfortable with being uncomfortable”. We believe this is where true success and healing happens. For this reason, we don’t sugar coat your treatments, but rather oversell discomfort so at the end of the session, you walk away feeling a great sense of relief and accomplishment.

Meet Our Team

“We give a warm welcome to Genevieve Gibb, a new addition to our LMT team!”

Richard Oliver

Founder of Ying & Yang Massage

Having become intrigued with massage at the age of four, Richard Oliver is likely the longest tenured massage therapist you’ve met! When he began treating his family members with a shoulder rub, they praised him for his ability to relieve their aching muscles and relax their bodies. Their continued accolades inspired him to later become a licensed massage therapist (LMT).

Like many others, Richard didn’t jump right into pursuing his passion. It was a journey that first took him down a road of nearly 29 years of working in the fast-food industry. Upon beginning his career in fast-food, he quickly excelled. He received his first promotion within two months of being hired and soon moved up into management and thrived on the many challenges that followed. He learned to work with a variety of people, recognizing that everyone is different, with differing needs and strengths and he has used that knowledge, along with many other skills he gained, to build a successful massage practice.

While he enjoyed working in the fast-food industry, Richard felt internally conflicted as he placed great value in maintaining a healthy lifestyle for himself through a healthy diet and physical exercise while serving non-nutritional, high-fattening foods to others. This is when he decided it was time to follow his dream and become an LMT and open his own practice.

Richard values health and mobility and maintains an active lifestyle through regular gym workouts and gauges his success each year by participating in the annual Lake Tye Triathlon and Snohomish Spartan Race. He brings this same mentality into his practice to ensure he gives his clients exceptional care so they can live a more productive life.

Genevieve Gibb

LERNN™ Method Therapist

As a child, Genevieve was active in sports and many other adventures which brought on a slew of injuries. She was fortunate to have great coaches early in her youth which led to her taking on her first job in a chiropractic office at the age of 15 and the beginning of an unending curiosity of the human anatomy and physiology.

Through her many personal treatments and journeys in healing, Genevieve became keenly aware that the standard of care in our society was lacking so she sought out ways to use her passion, education, and experiences to help others. As a result of a series of careers in teaching, coaching, dental assisting, and many other occupations, she eventually decided to pursue massage.

Genevieve is a Board-Certified Massage Therapist and a 2018 World Massage Championship competitor. She has also served as a student advisor to the Dean of Sports Psychology at Chapman University. She is skilled in a variety of massage techniques and provides both preventative and restorative medical massage. She is devoted to patient education and teaches you to carefully listen to your body, develop healthy lifestyle practices, and ways to support your body’s natural healing process.
